Iran: A Protest Of Amini Taken A Violent Turn

People call for additional rallies as Iran protests continue.

Iran’s protests are still going strong; demonstrations are still taking place in different places, and organisers are calling for additional marches and acts of civil disobedience in the coming days.

Tuesday night, protesters in Tehran’s capital screamed slogans from roofs and behind windows, and some organised demonstrations in the Tehranpars, Saadatabad, Ekbatan, and Jannatabad districts.

Despite the unprecedented rebellion against the Islamic Republic, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei accused foreign countries of inciting protests on Wednesday, claiming that he had no issue with the young people on the streets because “these are our own kids!”

“The issue’s surface is the presence of certain youths and young people in the streets. These are our own children, and we don’t disagree with them since they entered the sector out of curiosity… but the key players are the primary directors who came in with a strategy, Khamenei said.

Security forces have murdered at least 40 teens and younger children so far, despite his assertion that no children have been killed.

He once more blamed the protest movement on the United States, Israel, and “certain cruel European countries,” saying that “the nation smacked and defeated them.” He also referred to the protest movement as a “hybrid war” rather than merely “street rioting.”

Dehloran is the latest city that joined the uprising. In Dehloran, on the border of Iran and Iraq, protesters lit fires and clashed with security forces Tuesday evening. Neighborhood-oriented protests continued in several cities, including Sanandaj, Bandar Abbas and Marivan.

On Wednesday morning, protesters in Sanandaj, a hotspot city in western Iran, came to the streets to yell anti-clerical chants. Videos demonstrate the walkout by shop owners and business owners around the city.

Students from Industrial University in Esfahan and Beheshti University in Tehran conducted meetings while shouting anti-government cries.

Students from Tehran Azad University, Rasht Azad University, and Hormozgan Medical Sciences University declared in a statement that they would not be attending the classes and urged other students and instructors to support them.

Students from Shahr-e Rey Azad University, which is close to Tehran, challenged the cafeteria’s gender segregation, and dentistry students at Shiraz University staged a sit-in.

School Boys and girls in a number of cities including Tehran, Karaj and Marivan, chanted slogans against the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In Karaj near capital Tehran, people hung placards to call for a march to the city cemetery on Thursday.

The most recent data provided by Iran Human Rights indicates that security forces have so far murdered at least 277 protesters around the country. 40 of them were under the age of 18, however not all of them had documentation to support their claims.

There have been 22 provinces with recorded protester deaths, with Sistan and Baluchistan, Mazandaran, Tehran, Kurdistan, and Gilan having the most numbers. The three September 2022 days with the highest death tolls were 21, 22, and 30. With 12 documented deaths, October 27th was the deadliest day, according to the group.

The Norway-based human rights organization also expressed concern regarding the fate of the detained protesters saying, “Dozens of them have been charged with the security-related charges of ‘Moharebeh’ (enmity against God) and ‘corruption on earth’ which carry the death penalty.
