An all-party parliamentary delegation from India, led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, held a series of high-level meetings with Japan’s political, governmental, and academic leaders in Tokyo to reinforce India’s strong stance against cross-border terrorism.
This visit forms part of India’s wider diplomatic outreach to highlight ‘Operation Sindoor’, which marks the country’s ‘new normal’ approach in responding to cross-border terror attacks, especially those sponsored by Pakistan.
The delegation met at India House in Tokyo, where they conveyed a clear, unified national message of zero tolerance for terrorism.
The Embassy of India in Japan posted on X that the group shared this firm position at a dinner hosted by Indian Ambassador Sibi George, reaffirming India’s commitment to national security.
During a focused press engagement held on Friday, the delegation briefed Japanese media about India’s unwavering resolve and all-party consensus on countering terrorism.
The delegation emphasised ‘Operation Sindoor’ as an evolved and proactive response to recent terror incidents.
The visit attracted attention for its cross-party representation, including BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi and Brij Lal, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Barittas, and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, underscoring India’s united political front on security matters.
The Indian parliamentarians engaged with the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship League, where league chairman Yasutoshi Nishimura expressed full support for India’s fight against terrorism.
They also held talks with Fukushiro Nukaga, Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, who recently visited India and reaffirmed Japan’s backing of India’s national security efforts.
Nukaga reiterated his support for India’s resolve to combat terrorism.
Further discussions took place with Minoru Kihara, former Defence Minister of Japan, Shinako Tsuchiya, Director General of the International Bureau, and Yasuhiro Hanashi, Acting Chairperson of the LDP’s Research Committee on Counter-terrorism and former Minister of Justice.
These meetings highlighted the shared commitment to zero tolerance for terrorism.
The delegation also met with members of the Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo at the Indian Embassy, reinforcing India’s steadfast determination to combat terrorism globally.
The Embassy of India described the engagement as a ‘united voice, firm in action’, reflecting India’s proactive diplomacy.
This diplomatic outreach campaign coincides with India’s efforts to expose Pakistan’s continuing support for cross-border terrorism, particularly following the brutal Pahalgam attack on April 22.
‘Operation Sindoor’ has become symbolic of India’s new strategic posture against terrorism, showcasing a zero-compromise approach.
The Indian parliamentary delegation’s visit to Japan successfully communicated India’s strong, united, and evolving stance against terrorism.
By engaging political leaders, the media, and diplomats, the delegation has strengthened Indo-Japanese cooperation in national security and reinforced the message of zero tolerance towards cross-border terrorism under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
This outreach marks a significant step in India’s global campaign to secure diplomatic backing and raise awareness about the challenges posed by terrorism in South Asia.
