The statement followed Kenya’s confirmation of an imported Ebola case involving a traveller from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who died on October 6.
Kenya’s Health Ministry said the country remains safe, open and vigilant after the imported case.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale briefed members of the Diplomatic Corps, international organisations and development partners on the ongoing response.
The Ministry stressed that one imported case does not indicate widespread transmission. It said the response is based on verified epidemiological information, scientific evidence and established public health protocols.
Kenya’s National Incident Management System has been operational since May 2026.
National and county emergency structures remain on high alert, while surveillance has been intensified at healthcare facilities and within communities.
Rapid response teams are investigating alerts and monitoring potential threats.
The Ministry said 4,971 health workers have received Ebola preparedness and response training.
Screening continues at 15 points of entry, with more than 652,000 travellers screened so far.
India has provided 6,000 PPE kits to support Kenya’s response.
The WHO supplied another 1,000 sets, alongside resources from Kenya and support from the WHO, US government, IGAD, Africa CDC and other development partners.
