The Indian Embassy in Nepal reported that India gifted 84 vehicles on Sunday to various organizations involved in the health and education sectors in Nepal.
In the presence of Ashok Kumar Rai, Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava handed over the keys to 34 ambulances and 50 school vehicles.
Ambassador Srivastava stated, “Gifting of the vehicles has been one of the long-standing traditions of the government of India under the Nepal-India Development Partnership Programme to bolster the efforts of the government of Nepal to strengthen its infrastructure in health and education sectors”.
“This is part of a very robust and strong development partnership between India and Nepal, which has a long history and legacy of touching people’s lives and bringing out tangible progress in Nepal’s development journey”, he stated at the ceremony, which was attended by mayors, chairpersons of municipalities/rural Municipalities, and representatives of various beneficiary organizations.
Education Minister Rai praised the Indian government’s many current development projects in Nepal and expressed hope that the assistance will continue to promote people-to-people connections and bilateral ties between the two countries.
He praised the Indian government for reaching out to and assisting schools and health facilities across Nepal, from the mountains to the Terai.
Since 1994, India has presented 974 ambulances and 234 school buses, including the most recent batch, to various health and educational groups throughout Nepal.
