Imran Khan Promises To Maintain Good Relations With Pakistan’s Army Chief

The former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has committed to keeping good relations with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir if he is elected.

While addressing a press conference at the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Imran Khan said that he has never made critical remarks regarding COAS General Asim Munir. After becoming a power, he vowed to maintain excellent relations with the army chief.

The former prime minister stated that the army chief was being misled by others. He also stated that he had previously conveyed a message to the army chief.

Khan vehemently rejected that the judiciary could be of any service. He said he was kidnapped and then obtained his arrest warrant while in detention.

He further said, “After reaching court, it came to my knowledge that people were killed. I had already warned about the consequences if I am arrested”.

“People expressed their rage over his arrest. He acknowledged that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) personnel displayed a decent attitude while he was in their custody”, the PTI chief added.

Khan had disputed that a deal was struck during a meeting with President Dr. Arif Alvi the day before.

According to the former prime minister, President Alvi did not carry anyone’s message and no agreement had been reached.

Imran Khan thanked the court for upholding the Constitution after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) barred authorities from detaining PTI Chairman Imran Khan in any case–even one that has not yet been disclosed–registered across the country until Monday (May 15).

The PTI chief further stated that when a throng takes to the streets without the supervision of a leader, it becomes out of control.
