Houthis Launch Drone Attacks Targeting Tel Aviv; Claim Strikes On US Warships

Yemen’s Houthis have claimed responsibility for drone attacks on Tel Aviv and renewed strikes against US naval forces in the Red Sea, escalating regional tensions amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.

Houthis Target Tel Aviv With Drone Strikes

The Houthi military announced that it launched a new drone operation targeting Tel Aviv on Friday.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated on the group’s al-Masirah TV channel that the Air Force carried out a ‘qualitative military operation’ against two Israeli military targets using two drones.

Sarea emphasized that the attacks were conducted in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

“We affirm that confronting the ongoing American aggression against our country will not prevent us from continuing to fulfill our duty towards Gaza,” he added.

Drone Intercepted Over Jordanian Airspace

Israeli Channel 12 News reported that one of the drones was intercepted near the Dead Sea in Jordanian airspace before it could reach its intended target.

The Jordanian army later confirmed that an unidentified drone had entered its airspace and crashed in the Ma’in area of Madaba governorate.

Authorities reported no casualties.

Houthis Forces Claim Attacks On US Aircraft Carrier

Earlier on Friday, Houthi forces also claimed new attacks on the USS Harry S Truman and other US warships operating in the northern Red Sea.

The group has regularly targeted US and Israeli assets since Israel intensified its strikes across Gaza in March.

The US Central Command dismissed the Houthi claims in a post on the social media platform X, asserting that the aircraft carrier strike group continues uninterrupted 24/7 operations against the Houthis.

US Responds With Intensified Airstrikes In Yemen

In response to the continued Houthi aggression, the US military has launched at least 30 airstrikes on northern Yemen since early Friday morning.

The strikes targeted areas in and around the capital, Sanaa, as well as the provinces of Marib and Hodeidah.

Sanaa residents reported hearing the sounds of fighter jets and missile explosions, particularly in the Mount Nuqum, Bani Hashish, and Sanhan districts.

Yemen lacks warning siren systems, leaving civilians with little time to react to incoming strikes.

“All that we hear is the sound of a speeding missile less than a second before it hit and exploded, then we hear the sound of fighter jets in full throttle,” a resident told Xinhua News Agency.

Houthis Leadership Offers Conditional Ceasefire

The Houthis, who maintain control over northern Yemen, reiterated that they would halt their attacks if Israel ended its war on Gaza and allowed essential food and medical supplies to enter the territory.

Since March 15, the US military has resumed regular airstrikes in Yemen, aiming to deter Houthi assaults on maritime and regional targets. The conflict continues to pose a growing risk to regional security and civilian lives on both sides.
