Hindu Man’s Murder In Bangladesh Sparks Fresh Alarm Over Minority Attacks

A young Hindu man’s murder in Feni district has intensified concerns over the safety of minority communities in Bangladesh, local media reports say. The killing adds to a worrying series of attacks reported over the past few weeks.

Police discovered the body of 27-year-old autorickshaw driver Samir Das in a crop field in Jagatpur village of Daganbhuiyan upazila on Monday.

Local residents spotted the body and alerted the authorities, who sent the remains to Feni General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Family members told police that Samir had left his home on Sunday evening in his autorickshaw but did not return. Concerned relatives searched for him through the night before the grim discovery was made the following day.

Preliminary assessments by police indicated that the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Investigators suspect that the attackers lured Samir to a secluded area and killed him, possibly while attempting to steal his vehicle.

The autorickshaw remains missing, strengthening the theory of robbery linked to the murder.

Daganbhuiyan Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Muhammad Faizul Azim Noman, confirmed the incident. He said police have launched a special operation to identify and arrest those responsible.

Efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen vehicle.

Reports indicate that this killing marks the ninth such incident in just over three weeks. It highlights a troubling rise in violence against Hindu communities across Bangladesh.

Recent reports have pointed to a range of attacks, including fatal assaults, mob violence and targeted killings.

Earlier this month, India expressed serious concern over the recurring attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, particularly Hindus.

New Delhi stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and urged authorities to deal firmly and decisively with incidents of communal violence.

The latest killing has once again drawn attention to the growing fear among minority groups. It has also underscored the urgent need for effective law enforcement to prevent further bloodshed.
