Hezbollah Launches Attacks On Israeli Military Sites

Hezbollah announced it attacked three Israeli military sites using suicide drones and artillery shells. The group said these attacks were in support of the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday, Hezbollah issued three separate statements detailing their actions. They claimed their fighters targeted positions on Mount Hermon and the espionage equipment at the Al-Raheb and Kiryat Shmona sites. According to Hezbollah, the drones and artillery directly hit these positions.

Lebanese military sources informed Xinhua news agency that Lebanese army observations noted the launch of several drones, artillery shells, and rockets. These were launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel on Saturday morning. Additionally, an Israeli drone attacked a house in Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon. This raid partially damaged the house but did not cause any injuries.

The sources also reported that seven border towns and villages in the eastern and central of southern Lebanon were shelled. The shelling resulted into material damage.

Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border had escalated since October 8, 2023. This increase followed Hezbollah’s rocket attacks on Israel in solidarity with Hamas’ attack on October 7. In retaliation, Israel fired heavy artillery at southeastern Lebanon. The situation worsened after Israel’s attack on Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut, which killed Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fouad Shokor, and seven civilians.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah has vowed a severe response to the Israeli raid. In Addition, he has promised retaliation at an appropriate time and place.

Amid ongoing cross-border exchanges and the recent killing of senior Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukr on July 30, fears of a full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah have intensified. This escalation also coincides with the Gaza conflict, where Israeli actions have reportedly killed more than 40,200 Palestinians since October 7. The military campaign has devastated Gaza, leaving many people homeless, hungry, and vulnerable to disease.

On Friday, Hezbollah announced it carried out 15 attacks on Israeli military sites, marking the largest number of attacks in 35 days.
