India and Kenya share longstanding historical and cultural ties that date back to the pre-independence era.
The vibrant Indian diaspora in Kenya, comprising more than 80,000 people, continues to play an important role in strengthening relations between the two nations.
Over the years, India and Kenya have expanded cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, defence and healthcare.
Kenya remains one of India’s most important partners in Africa, with bilateral trade exceeding USD 3 billion annually. India exports pharmaceuticals, machinery and automobiles to Kenya, while importing tea, coffee and leather products.
Development cooperation has remained a key pillar of the relationship, with India supporting infrastructure projects and capacity-building initiatives through lines of credit and technical assistance programmes.
The leaders discussed cooperation in renewable energy, digital technologies and food security, while also exploring ways to strengthen economic ties and supply chain resilience.
Both sides exchanged views on international developments and reaffirmed the importance of amplifying the voice of the Global South in global forums.
The leaders emphasised cooperation on climate change, sustainable development and fair trade while reaffirming their shared commitment to South-South collaboration.
The meeting reflected growing alignment between India and Kenya and underscored stronger future cooperation in trade, technology and development.
