Sanna Marin, Finland’s former Prime Minister has filed for divorce from her husband Markus Raikkonen.
The couple announced the news through Instagram. In a separate Instagram story, they wrote, “We are grateful for the 19 years together and our beloved daughter. We will remain best friends”.
Marin and Raikkonen, who previously worked at a venture capital business, have a 5-year-old daughter together. They married in 2020, while Marin was in government dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic’s aftermath.

After her August 2020 wedding to Raikkonen, Marin posted on Instagram, “We have lived our youth together, entered adulthood together, and grown into parents for our dear daughter together”.
Last month, Marin and her Social Democratic Party were defeated in Finland’s parliamentary election, falling short of both the right-wing National Coalition Party and the nationalist Finns Party.
Marin, 37, the world’s youngest prime minister when she enter office in 2019, is seen as a millennial role model for progressive new leaders around the world, even as voters in her home country chose a new government.
