Elon Musk To Visit India Later This Year Following Call With PM Modi

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced on Saturday that he is looking forward to visiting India later this year.

The announcement followed a telephone conversation between Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, marking a continued dialogue between the two leaders on enhancing collaboration in technology and innovation.

In a post on social media platform X, Musk expressed his excitement, saying, “It was an honor to speak with PM Modi. I am looking forward to visiting India later this year!”

Prime Minister Modi also shared details of the conversation on X, stating, “Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”

The call between the two leaders builds on their in-person meeting in Washington DC in February. There, they explored opportunities for stronger collaboration between Indian and US entities.

The discussion covered key sectors such as space exploration, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and innovation.

In a statement following the February meeting, India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Prime Minister and Mr Musk discussed strengthening collaboration between Indian and US entities in innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. Their discussion also touched on opportunities to deepen cooperation in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and good governance.”

Musk, the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was joined by three of his children.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister interacted with Elon Musk’s children, who were also present.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “It was also a delight to meet Mr. @elonmusk’s family and to talk about a wide range of subjects!”

PM Modi also took to X to provide details about his meeting with Musk.

“Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about such as space, mobility, technology and innovation. I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’,” PM Modi posted on X.

Musk’s upcoming visit to India is expected to further bolster ties between India and the US in high-tech industries. There is potential for new investments and collaborations in the near future.
