Donald Trump Charged For Manipulation 2020 US Election Results; Created ‘Mistrust And Anger’

Donald Trump US Elections probe: He is charged for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 elections by the US Department of Justice. According to the document, the accusations against the former US president were centred on plans by Donald Trump and his allies to stop the appointment of Joe Biden as vice president notwithstanding the election’s outcome. The attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to special counsel for the Justice Department Jack Smith, was “fueled by lies” from Donald Trump.

Trump tried to create an “atmosphere of mistrust and anger”

The indictment revealed that the US president’s own campaign staff, including those “on whom he relied for candid advice on important matters,” refuted his false claims about the 2020 election. Despite this, the indictment claimed that Donald Trump “knew his election lies were false, but pushed them anyway to create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger and erode public faith in the administration of the election.”

Donald Trump US Elections case

Donald Trump in US elections had the right to formally dispute the outcome, but when the process dragged on for months, his conduct turned criminal. Prosecutors said in court records that Trump had a right “to speak publicly about the election and even to claim, falsely, that there had been outcome-determinative fraud during the election and that he had won.” He had the right to file litigation and formally contest the election results, both of which he did. But soon after the vote, Trump also violated the law by trying to rig the results, according to the indictment.

The indictment noted that Donald Trump continued to make false comments regarding the US election despite repeated warnings from high-ranking government officials.
