Bushra Bibi with Imran Khan
Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, has not been administered any toxic substance, her physician said after a medical checkup following allegations by the ex-prime minister that the former first lady was poisoned while detained at his mansion, which was converted into a sub-jail.
On April 2, Khan informed Judge Nasir Javed Rana at the hearing of the 190 million pound Toshakhana corruption case in Adiala jail that there had been an attempt to poison the former first lady and that she had marks on her skin and tongue as a result of the poisoning.
“I know who is behind it”, the 71-year-old former prime minister stated, without naming anyone.
Khan stated that if anything happened to 49-year-old Bushra, the Pakistan Army chief (Gen Asim Munir) should be held accountable because members of an intelligence agency were overseeing everything at his Bani Gala mansion in Islamabad and Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
Dr. Asim Yousuf said, “At this time, there is no evidence of Bushra Bibi being poisoned”.
“We are not conducting any medical test to ascertain administrations of any poisonous substance to Bushra Bibi as no such symptoms are detected”, Dr. Yousuf continued.
According to the doctor, Bushra Bibi’s health deteriorated after taking a meal two months ago.
“However, due to health concerns, she began eating less food”, the doctor noted.
The doctor indicated that he was unaware of her exact health issues that happened two months back.
During her interaction with the media before the court appearance, the former first lady alleged that three drops of toilet cleaner were mixed into her supper on the eve of Shab-e-Meraj.
Imran Khan’s wife claimed that the food and water supplied by the jail authorities tasted bitter.
Bushra responded to an inquiry by saying that someone told her in jail that toilet cleaner had been mixed in her food. She declined to reveal the official’s name.
“My eyes swell up, I feel pain in my chest and stomach”, the former first lady revealed.
Earlier in January, Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana corruption case over the illicit selling of state gifts that the former premier received during his term.
