Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the media, indicating that the search and rescue operations would conclude in two days. He noted that rescue teams successfully rescued more than 4,000 victims during the efforts.

Oli expressed the government’s regret over the failure to anticipate the extensive damage caused by the relentless monsoon rains that struck the country on Friday and Saturday.

In response to the tragedy, the government began a three-day national mourning period on Tuesday, lowering flags across the nation to half-mast in honor of the victims.
