Christmas is meant to be a time for festivities, celebrations and the best way to countdown the end of the year.
India being a multicultural and multiple faith country celebrates so many festivals with such fervour. It’s really a lovely time to see Diwali, Eid and Christmas in our motherland.
X-MAS like any other festival is best spent with friends and family. But in case you are on your own this Christmas, you need not be alone.
Here are some ideas to make your X-MAS by yourself a very very Merry Christmas.
If you are in a city away from your hometown then go make your Christmas shopping about gifts for the needy. Then go around playing Santa distributing these hand picked and yes gift wrapped gifts for the kids on the street on your drive home.
If you are truly craving company then go ahead on X-MAS and visit an orphanage. Do find out in advance if they have a Christmas tree or not, bring one along and some decorations too and get decorating with the kids there. Don’t forget to play Santa by adding presents underneath the tree.
You don’t have to be great cook to try out a new recipe. It can be quite fun and therapeutic too. Try this easy and essential Plum cake recipe from chef Tarla Dalal ‘s kitchen.
Make a day out of it, take joy in buying the ingredients, pick out your favourite music and get to the baking board and let us know how your cake turned out in the comments section.

Any day is a good day to make a specially curated music playlist. Add in your favourite music which signifies X-MAS for you. If Christmas to you is a time of gratitude or partying or family time or for that matter ‘me time’. Whatever X-MAS means to you, express it with a very special music playlist and share it with the special people in your life.
The churches around this time look like a dream. It doesn’t matter if you are religious or not. Go visit a local Church for the beauty, culture and the lovely carols you will get to experience. Join in the X-MAS cheer and spread the joy!
Do tell us how you spent your X-MAS and if there is anything you would like to add to the list. You could always do the ‘curl up in bed with a Christmas movie’ thing too.
But maybe it’s time to go out there and be part of the joy and spread a lot more of it.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
