China Reports ‘Great Positive Progress’ in Resolving Border Row with India

In a recent statement, a senior official from the Chinese foreign ministry highlighted the significant strides made by China and India in resolving their border standoff. The spokesperson, Mao Ning, underscored the ongoing close communication between the two nations, further elaborating on China’s response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks emphasizing the importance of addressing the prolonged border situation urgently.

During an interview with Newsweek magazine, Prime Minister Modi expressed optimism about restoring peace and tranquility at the borders through positive and constructive engagement at diplomatic and military levels. Mao reiterated China’s commitment to fostering healthy relations with India, emphasizing the mutual interests served by stable bilateral ties.

The article also notes China’s reaction to PM Modi’s interview on the preceding day, where Mao emphasized the significance of sound and stable relations between the two countries for regional and global peace and development. Despite China’s stance that the boundary question should be appropriately managed within the broader bilateral context, India maintains that normalcy in relations is contingent upon addressing the abnormal state of the borders.

Mao affirmed ongoing close communication between China and India through diplomatic and military channels, highlighting positive progress in addressing border-related issues.
