China Far Ahead From West In Field of Critical Technologies, Claims Report

Proud news for China. The latest report says China beats the West in the race for critical technologies.

Out of 44 critical technologies, China leads the world in 37 as per a report issued by an Australian think tank. The report claims that China leads the way in many vital technologies which also include drones.

With China leading the race of critical technologies, according to report Western democracies fall behind in the race where it belongs to the field of scientific and research breakthroughs. The significant report has been issued from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI).

China not ahead only in 7 critical technologies

With its dominance already in the fields of space, defense robotics, the environment, energy, biotechnology, advanced materials and key quantum technology, and artificial intelligence (AI), China in fact is the world’s top technology superpower.

Machine learning, drones, electric batteries, photovoltaics, nuclear energy, and quantum sensors along with critical minerals extraction, are the key areas dominated by China. And this report has been released by the Critical Technology Tracker on Thursday.

More significantly, the critical technology dominance of China in some fields is so entrenched that the world’s top 10 leading research institutions for specific technologies have their location in the country, says the ASPI.

In comparison with America, China is behind in just seven critical technologies. These include space launch systems and quantum computing, according to ASPI. And for this the funding comes from the governments of Australia, US and the UK. Private sector sources belonging to defense and tech industries, are also among the fund contributors.
