China claims US Navy destroyer entered Its waters without permission

The Chinese military announced on Saturday that the USS Hopper entered Chinese territorial waters without permission from the Chinese government.

According to a post on the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s Southern Theatre Command’s official WeChat account, the Chinese military sent its naval and air forces to track, monitor, and warn away the vessel.

The incident, it went on to add, “proves that the United States is an out-and-out ‘security risk creator’ in the South China Sea”.

This revelation comes only days after China accused the Philippines of using foreign forces to monitor the South China Sea, referring to joint patrols conducted by Philippine and U.S. forces since Tuesday.

The US and China held candid talks on maritime issues earlier this month, including the disputed South China Sea, and the US side expressed worry over dangerous and unlawful Chinese moves there, as per the U.S. State Department.
