Canada Labels Lawrence Bishnoi Gang As Terrorist Organisation

Canada officially designates the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist group for murder, shootings, arson, extortion and intimidation.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree announced on Monday that the gang has been added to Canada’s list of terrorist entities under the Criminal Code.

“Violence and terror have no place in Canada, especially when directed at communities to create fear. This listing strengthens our ability to protect Canadians,” he said.

Canada Declares Bishnoi Terrorist

Under this designation, any property, vehicles, or money owned by the Bishnoi gang in Canada can be frozen or seized.

Law enforcement now has additional powers to investigate and prosecute terrorist activities, including financing, recruitment and travel linked to the gang.

It is a criminal offence for anyone in Canada or Canadians abroad to knowingly deal with property controlled by a listed terrorist organisation.

Providing property to the gang, directly or indirectly, is also illegal.

The listing also assists immigration and border authorities under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, potentially restricting gang members’ entry into Canada.

The Bishnoi gang, a criminal organisation with roots in India, has extended its reach into Canada.

Communities with large Indian populations have witnessed their involvement in murders, arson and shootings.

Furthermore, a constant wave of fear through intimidation and extortion, says Public Safety Canada.

By tagging the gang as a terrorist entity, Canada equips its authorities to halt criminal acts and make neighbourhoods safer.

Minister Anandasangaree added, “Every person in Canada deserves to feel secure in their home and community. Certain communities have been deliberately targeted by the Bishnoi Gang. By listing this group as terrorists, we gain stronger tools to confront and halt their criminal acts effectively.”

The designation is more than symbolic; it strengthens Canada’s framework against global crime. It gives officials the tools to disrupt gang operations, secure local populations, and dismantle networks that challenge law and order.
