A 10-year-old British-Indian schoolboy and award-winning fundraiser have traveled to Poland to hand over books and other stationery products collected in the UK for Ukrainian kids displaced by Russia’s invasion.
A recipient of the Diana Award 2022, Milan Paul Kumar from Bolton in Greater Manchester, northern England, arrived in the Polish city of Krakow earlier this week ahead of the first anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Friday.
He was accompanied by his parents. There he met Wiaczeslaw Wojnarowskyj, General Consulate of Ukraine in Krakow. He tweeted, “Thank you Wiaczeslaw Wojnarowskyj, General Consulate of #Ukraine for the invitation. An honor and privilege to meet with you in #Krakow! #StandWithUkraine Follow me on my humanitarian journey in #Poland to support Ukrainian children … @iwill_movement @10DowningStreet”, through his personal Twitter handle.
Prior to his journey, he thanked everyone who made his Poland visit possible. He tweeted, “I’m packing my suitcases. Many thanks to @Tesco staff, @Literacy_Trust & authors for generous donations to support Ukrainian refugee children”.
He was happy to spend time with Ukrainian Kids. “Most importantly, I have made lots of new friends who I will visit again 💙💛”, he tweeted in another tweet.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, he wrote and self-published his book, ‘COVID Christmas Parade’, to raise money for the National Literacy Trust to support children whose education was affected by the pandemic.
He was awarded the ‘British Citizen Award 2021’ for raising funds to support children and families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
