‘Big Embarrassment’ For US! FBI Arrests 21-Year-Old Airman In Connection With Classified Document Leak

After a long hunt for the person behind the document leak, a 21-year-old member of the US Air National Guard has been arrested by the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) in connection with the leaks online of classified documents that embarrassed the entire country with its allies around the world.

FBI arrests US Air National Guard

Attorney General Merrick Garland said, “The FBI has arrested Jack Teixeira in connection with an investigation into alleged unauthorized removal, retention, and transmission of classified national defence information.”

Speaking to the media at the Justice Department, Garland said, “FBI agents took Teixeira into custody earlier this afternoon without incident.”

While taking no further questions, he said, “This investigation is ongoing.”

The FBI has informed that its agents had arrested had made an arrest and were conducting “authorized law enforcement activity at a residence in North Dighton Massachusetts.”

Footages of the accused with the FBI agents

Several videos and footage have surfaced on the news channels, showing armed officers accompanying a young man wearing a grey T-shirt and red shorts into a waiting car. His head was bowed and his hair was close-cropped.

The Department of Defense referred the matter to the Justice Department, which opened a formal criminal probe last week. The Pentagon is assessing the damage.

‘I’m not concerned about the leak’

President Biden said that he was not overly concerned about the leak.

Biden, who is on a three-day tour of Ireland told the reporters, “There’s a full-blown investigation going on, as you know, with the intelligence community and the Justice Department, and they’re getting close but I don’t have an answer.”

Further, he said “I’m not concerned about the leak. I’m concerned that it happened, but there is nothing contemporaneous that I’m aware of.”

According to the post on the 102nd Intelligence Wing’s official Facebook page, the accused was promoted to Airman 1st Class in July. The unit did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

Britain raises questions

After the major document leak, several countries have questioned the veracity of some of the leaked documents including the United Kingdom. Britain said that there was “a serious level of inaccuracy” in the information.

Some of the most sensitive leaked details are purportedly related to Ukraine’s military capabilities and shortcomings, and information about US allies.

Moreover, on Thursday, the US President said that the investigators were closing in on the source of the online leaks in what is believed to be the most serious security breach in years.

According to the media reports, Teixeira, 21, was a National Guardsman who led Thug Shaker Central, an online group where about 20 to 30 people shared their love of guns, racist memes and video games. Also, the reports cited interviews and documents it reviewed.
