Bashar Al-Assad Flees Damascus; Syrian Regime Falls To Rebels

More than two decade long rule of Bashar -al-Assad falls to rebels as Syrian president flees the country and rebels group captures capital.

Talking to news outlet, Reuter, senior army officers revealed that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad has left country for unknown location on Sunday, December 8.

Rebels entered capital Damascus with no security forces stopping them. Notably, thousand in car and on foot congregated at main square in Damascus shouting “Freedom”

The rebels on state television informed that they have toppled the Assad government eliminating a 50-year long family dynasty.

According to Reuters, Syrian army command notified the officers on Sunday that Assad regime had come to an end in the country. However, army later said that it was continuing the operation against “terrorist groups” n key cities like Homa and Homs.

“We celebrate with the Syrian people the news of freeing our prisoners and releasing their chains and announcing the end of the era of injustice in Sednaya prison,” said the rebels.

Sednaya is a military prison in outskirts of Damascus detaining thousands and known for extreme torture of prisoners. It is said about the prison that whoever enters it does not leave except to the cemetery.

Moreover, according to rebels they had gained control over key city of Homs only after a day of fighting, that left Assad’s rule dangling on thread.

The development marks as a turning point for the more than 13 year conflict shattered Syria. The unstablity of nearly 14 year has turned homes into rubble in Syria, killed millions and forced millions to aboard as refugees
