Acharya Lokesh To Lead World Peace Conference At US Capitol On July 1

India’s message of peace and non-violence is set to resonate at one of the United States’ most influential institutions as Jain Acharya Lokesh leads the ‘We Support Peace’ campaign to Washington, DC.

After beginning in New Delhi and travelling through New York, the initiative will culminate in a major international conference at the Capitol Building Complex on 1 July 2026.

Organised by the Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati Foundation, the conference on ‘World Peace and Harmony’ will serve as a global platform to advocate for a world free from war, violence and conflict.

Acharya Lokesh, widely recognised as a global peace ambassador, will deliver the keynote address, urging nations to reject violence, extremism and hostility. He will encourage governments and communities to embrace compassion, peaceful coexistence, non-violence, and moral responsibility.

Through his global campaigns, ‘We Support Peace’ and ‘War-Free World’, Acharya Lokesh aims to unite political leaders, civil society organisations and citizens in support of lasting global peace.

A key highlight of the conference is the participation of lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Representatives of the Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati Foundation, Karamjeet Singh Dhaliwal and Anil Monga, said the event marks a rare occasion where leaders from both parties are supporting a common peace initiative.

The conference will also welcome former members of the US Congress, religious and social leaders, academics, peace activists, and members of the Indian-American community.

Among the prominent attendees are US Representatives Laura Gillen, Brad Sherman, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Shri Thanedar, Ro Khanna, Suhas Subramanyam, Mike Lawler and Nicole Malliotakis, along with former Congressman Joe Crowley.

Conference Significance

Chief organisers Nitin Vyas and Ashok Bhatt said preparations are also progressing rapidly in Washington.

The conference will reinforce the shared democratic and humanitarian values of India and the US while highlighting India’s growing role in promoting global peace and harmony during celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
