A Glimpse At G20 Preparations, 400 Rooms In ITC Maurya For President Biden

In the second week of September, US President Joe Biden and a plethora of other world leaders will visit India for the G20 Summit.

The major event will be held in the national capital on September 9-10, with 29 heads of state, top officials from the European Union and invited guest countries, and 14 leaders of international organizations expected to attend.

Attendees will be housed at a number of hotels in the Delhi-NCR area.

According to sources, rooms have been reserved at prestigious hotels such as the ITC Maurya, Taj Palace, The Oberoi, The Lodhi, The Imperial, and Le Meridien.

The 400 rooms at ITC Maurya will be home to President Biden and his entourage. Previously, the hotel welcomed US Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, as well as other heads of state. The US Secret Service is said to be inspecting the hotel’s premises ahead of the President’s arrival.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to stay at Delhi’s Taj Hotel, while Hotel Shangri-La prepares to entertain UK’s Rishi Sunak as well as German officials.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his entourage will stay at Claridge’s, while Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will stay at the Imperial Hotel in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved a proposal to close offices and commercial operations in the Union Territory.

According to reports, the New Delhi district’s banks and businesses, including markets, will be closed from September 8 to 10 in addition to all private and government offices in Delhi. Schools and colleges will also be closed during this period.
