A Case Of Contract Killing: Ex Russian Spy’s Claim About Death Of Wagner Boss Yevgeny Prigozhin

According to a former British intelligence official, he previously learned about a contract that had been advertised for Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. “We had heard some weeks ago from a source that a contract had been put out on Prigozhin in Russia by senior members of the business community,” said Christopher Steele.

But he said that it would be a “mistake” to believe that any murder attempt had been approved by Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.

The death looks like a “revenge attack”

“But certainly it looks as though it may well be a revenge attack by somebody in the elite, possibly somebody very senior,” he added.  Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list of a jet that crashed north of Moscow, though it is still unknown if he died in today’s catastrophe or what caused it.

The plane crash killed Wagner Boss Yevgeny Prigozhin

According to Interfax, which cited the country’s aviation regulator, the private jet crashed in the Tver area of Russia. According to a state-run news service, the plane’s three pilots, along with the seven other passengers, all perished on the flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg. The insurrection that Prigozhin orchestrated two months prior to the disaster posed the biggest challenge to Vladimir Putin’s authority.

The “treason”

The June uprising had been branded “treason” by the Russian president at the time, but Prigozhin was spared any reprisals by the Kremlin as part of an agreement to put a stop to the uprising. This took place after his fighters approached Moscow at a distance of 200 kilometers. Russian authorities are looking into the circumstances behind the plane accident.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, who led the mercenary group Wagner and was formerly a low-profile businessman who benefited from his links to Russian president Vladimir Putin, shot into the public eye with Russia’s conflict in Ukraine.
