7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Nears Alaska, Tsunami Warning Issued

United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake occurred today in the Alaska Peninsula region. Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued for several portions of the US state.

According to the USGS, the quake occurred at a depth of 9.3 kilometres (5.78 miles).

United States Geological Survey (USGS) tweeted, “Notable quake, preliminary info: M 7.4 – 106 km S of Sand Point, Alaska”, through its official Twitter handle.
