Kashi Ka Kayakalp Conclave: At the ‘Kashi Ka Kayakalp’ mega conclave organized by Bharat Express News Network, educational leaders stressed the need for skill-based education and the role of technology in Kashi’s educational future. Professor Yogendra Singh, former Vice Chancellor of Jananayak Chandrashekhar University, and Dr. Pankaj Raj Hans, Executive Director of Microtech College of Management and Technology, shared their perspectives on local educational progress.
Professor Singh described Kashi and Ujjain as major educational centers, noting that Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth emerged in Kashi alongside the nation’s earliest universities. Banaras Hindu University (BHU), he said, is a “capital of all knowledge,” reflecting the area’s historical importance.
Singh emphasized that students should focus on skill-based knowledge, combining learning with practical application to support national growth. Drawing from his experience as Ballia University’s founding Vice Chancellor, he commended recent government efforts that, he believes, are advancing Indian education. Today, Singh said, skill and knowledge together enable students to communicate globally.
Dr. Pankaj Raj Hans highlighted the significance of computer engineering and artificial intelligence in today’s world, noting how AI and blockchain technology are now integral to many Kashi institutions. However, he pointed out that a lack of research platforms has prevented some Indian research from reaching global audiences.
When asked why students leave Varanasi, Dr. Hans attributed this to a lack of seats in local institutions. Citing IIT BHU’s 400-seat limit, he noted that students often go elsewhere due to this constraint. He urged for more institutions and resources to help retain talent locally, addressing these and other issues raised during the conclave.
