Congress Legislative Assembly leader Aradhana Mishra (Mona) announced at a press conference that the Congress party will hold protests in 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh over the deteriorating law and order situation. The party plans to demonstrate on Wednesday in response to what they claim is a collapse in law and order. Congress workers will agitate at locations where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath speaks about law and order.
Mishra criticized the state government for its handling of crime, citing a 55% increase in crimes against women since 2017. She highlighted a recent incident in Ayodhya where a woman working in a temple was gang-raped, and an FIR was not registered for three days. Mishra alleged that the lack of action was due to the involvement of a BJP leader’s son.
She questioned why there was a reward for Mangesh Yadav before his encounter and criticized the celebration of accused individuals from BHU upon their release. Mishra also condemned the government’s failure to address rising cyber crime and lack of effective policies to combat it.
