Vinay Verma, the Shohratgarh MLA from Apna Dal (S), announced he will stage a dharna at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Municipality Complex at 11 a.m. tomorrow. He is protesting against alleged police harassment and corruption in Siddharthnagar district.
Verma has written to the Hon’ble Assembly Speaker, accusing the district police captain and her subordinates of anti-people actions. He claims that the police head of Dhebarua station protected influential individuals involved in a fatal accident caused by illegal mining. Verma had previously reported this issue to senior officials, including the SP and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, without resolution.
Verma also alleges that the Shohratgarh SHO used abusive language against him despite his efforts to advocate for public interests. He believes these issues stem from the district police captain’s directives.
Verma’s protest aims to address what he describes as police terror and to seek justice for the public. He emphasized that the dharna will be conducted peacefully.
