Residents of Delhi may witness a change in weather conditions after several days of warm and dry weather, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting rainfall and thunderstorms on May 11 and 12.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for both days, warning of possible lightning activity and gusty winds across parts of the national capital.
The forecast indicates very light to light rainfall during the afternoon and evening hours on Sunday and Monday.
Thunderstorms accompanied by winds moving at 40-50 kmph are also likely during this period.
The weather department said the maximum temperature on May 11 could remain around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may stay close to 27 degrees Celsius.
Similar weather conditions are expected on May 12, although daytime temperatures may fall slightly to nearly 37 degrees Celsius following rainfall activity.
Before the arrival of rain, Delhi will likely experience mostly clear skies on May 9 and 10, with temperatures ranging between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. No alert remains in place for these days.
Meteorologists said the showers are likely to provide temporary relief from the prevailing heat. Temperatures may ease after the rain.
The weather department has predicted partly cloudy conditions for May 13. Clearer skies may return from May 14 onward.
The IMD has advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms. It particularly warned people travelling during evening hours because of the risk of lightning and strong winds.
