Delhi NCR Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms, Temperature Dip

The India Meteorological Department has forecast a change in weather conditions across Delhi NCR, with rain, strong winds and isolated thunderstorms expected on April 7 and 8. The development signals a brief spell of cooler and unsettled weather in the region.

The weather on April 6 remained largely normal, with temperatures hovering around seasonal averages.

The IMD expects a slight drop in temperatures over the next two days, with both minimum and maximum readings likely to decline marginally. The department has predicted one or two spells of rain or thunderstorms during this period, along with partly cloudy skies.

Conditions will stabilise from April 10 onwards, and temperatures will gradually rise again.

An active western disturbance is driving this change, increasing wind speeds and bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures across NCR and nearby areas.

Early mornings and evenings may feel relatively cooler as a result.

Air quality across the region has shown signs of improvement. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board indicates that most monitoring stations currently fall in the ‘moderate’ category, offering some relief to residents.

In areas such as Noida, air quality varied, with certain locations recording higher pollution levels, while others remained in moderate ranges. Across Delhi, most regions reported moderate air quality, though a few pockets continued to register higher readings.

Authorities expect further improvement in air quality in the coming days, supported by rainfall and stronger winds, which typically help disperse pollutants and enhance atmospheric conditions.
