Delhi NCR Weather: Rain, Thunderstorms Bring Cooler Air

Weather conditions across Delhi NCR shifted noticeably on Tuesday, with forecasts pointing to rain, thunderstorms and lightning in several areas, including Noida and Ghaziabad.

The India Meteorological Department said gusty winds are also expected, contributing to the unsettled conditions. Showers over the past day have already led to a drop in temperatures, offering relief from the recent heat.

On Tuesday morning, the maximum temperature stood at around 33°C, while the minimum dipped to 19°C. The day will likely remain dominated by thunderstorm activity.

Looking ahead, temperatures are likely to edge upwards. On May 6, the maximum could reach 36°C with a minimum near 21°C under partly cloudy skies and possible lightning.

The warming trend will likely continue, with temperatures forecast around 37°C on May 7 and 38°C on May 8. By May 9 and 10, daytime highs may approach 39°C, although skies are expected to stay mostly clear, and no major alerts have been issued.

The recent spell of rain has also improved air quality across the region.

Several monitoring stations in Delhi reported Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in the ‘Good’ to ‘Satisfactory’ range, including areas such as Alipur, Ashok Vihar, Aya Nagar and Bawana.

Locations like Anand Vihar and Chandni Chowk remained in the ‘Moderate’ category.

In Noida, AQI readings hovered around the borderline between ‘Moderate’ and ‘Satisfactory’ in sectors such as 125, 62 and 1.

Ghaziabad also recorded cleaner air, with multiple areas reporting satisfactory levels.

Experts attribute the improvement to sustained rainfall and strong winds, which have helped disperse pollutants. If such weather patterns continue, air quality is expected to remain relatively stable in the coming days.
