Another LPG Blow: Commercial Cylinder Prices Jump Again From June 1

Commercial LPG prices have been increased once again, adding to the operational costs of restaurants, hotels, caterers and other businesses that rely heavily on cooking gas.

Under the latest revision effective from June 1, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen by Rs 42, taking the retail selling price to Rs 3,113.50.

In Kolkata, the increase is higher at Rs 53.50, pushing the cylinder price to Rs 3,255.50.

Oil marketing companies have also raised the price of 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders by Rs 11.

In Delhi, a 5-kg FTL cylinder will now cost Rs 821.50.

Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged, providing some relief to household consumers. Commercial LPG prices have continued their sharp upward climb this year.

The price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi has risen from Rs 1,691.50 in January to over Rs 3,100 in June, an increase of more than Rs 1,400.

Oil companies raised prices by Rs 49 in February, Rs 115 in March and a steep Rs 993 in April. After remaining high in May, they increased rates again in June.

Commercial LPG prices have risen across major cities, with a 19-kg cylinder now costing Rs 3,024.50 in Mumbai, Rs 3,232 in Chennai, Rs 3,294 in Hyderabad and Rs 3,322 in Patna.

The hike comes amid rising fuel costs, with CNG prices in Delhi increasing to Rs 83.09 per kg after multiple revisions since mid-May.

Petrol and diesel prices have also risen in recent weeks, increasing transportation and operating costs for businesses.

Experts attribute the trend to global energy market volatility and supply chain disruptions.
