Zerodha Suffers Major Outage; Thousands Of Traders Affected

Online brokerage platform Zerodha experienced a significant technical disruption on Monday, preventing a large number of users from carrying out trades.

According to data from Downdetector, 88 per cent of complaints were related to trading difficulties, while 13 per cent concerned issues with the website.

The reporting platform registered a sharp increase in problem alerts, which it flags whenever user reports rise well above the usual volume for that time of day.

Frustrated traders swiftly took to the social media platform X to vent their anger.

One user wrote, “Zerodha was down today, and I lost money because of their error. This glitch is happening way too often, and it feels like the team has zero responsibility. Losing money due to their negligence is unacceptable.”

Another posted, “Nifty hits 25,000 again. Zerodha: I’m going down.”

A third user expressed annoyance at unprocessed orders, saying, “Zerodha is down. My orders are pending. Wake up Zerodha and fix the issue immediately.”

Some users raised broader concerns over the platform’s service quality.

One comment read, “Looks like #Zerodha is gradually losing its edge. Support responses often miss the actual context — replying without reading the query properly. I was referring to margin, not order execution. The lack of attention to detail is disappointing from a platform once known for its precision.”

Zerodha later notified affected customers that the issue had been fixed.

The company’s update stated, “Some of your orders would have shown under the pending status. The issue is now resolved, and you can check the updated order status on Kite. We regret the inconvenience caused.”

This is not the first time the platform has encountered technical problems.

In September this year, a similar glitch left users unable to see price updates on the Kite app.

That incident on 3 September triggered a wave of complaints on social media, with users pointing out that such disruptions had occurred before.

Zerodha admitted the issue on X at the time and clarified that the glitch did not affect order placements.
