Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G Review: Is Its 144Hz Display And 6,500mAh Battery Worth Rs 49,999?

The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G combines an angular design, a textured rear finish and a triangular camera module.

Tested in Tundra Green with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, the phone feels premium and comfortable to hold. Its customisable Action button offers quick access to functions such as the camera and flashlight.

The rear Alive Matrix Display shows notifications, battery status and caller information, although it feels more decorative than essential and may increase battery consumption.

The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, delivering fluid scrolling, vibrant colours and good visibility in direct sunlight. Its contrast makes films and series enjoyable to watch.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset and a dedicated P1 graphics chip, the phone handles games such as BGMI and Real Cricket smoothly. Extended gaming and fast charging can cause some warmth.

HiOS 16 offers customisation and AI tools, including Ask Ella and AI Writing, though minor interface bugs remain.

The 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C primary camera features optical image stabilisation, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP front camera.

Rear-camera performance suits everyday photography, while selfies are suitable for social media. AI editing tools add flexibility.

The 6,500mAh battery lasts around a day and a half with regular use.

The advertised 45W charging system takes approximately an hour to recharge the phone, with some warmth during charging.

Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support provide adequate audio for videos and gaming.

Priced at Rs 49,999, the Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G offers a high-quality display and capable gaming performance. It delivers dependable battery life. Its cameras and AI tools are useful, but software refinements and the practical value of Alive Matrix need improvement.

The phone is worth considering for buyers prioritising display quality, performance and endurance.
