Qualcomm will unveil its new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro processors at the annual Snapdragon Summit from September 22 to 24.
Both are built on an advanced 2nm process, but it’s unclear if Samsung or TSMC will be making them.
A non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 is also in development.
These chipsets feature next-gen Oryon CPU cores arranged in a 2+3+3 layout.
The standard Elite chip includes an Adreno 845 GPU with 12 MB of graphics memory and 6 MB of cache.
The Elite Pro raises the bar with an Adreno 850 GPU, packing 18MB of graphics memory and 8MB of cache.
Due to production costs, the Elite Pro variant is estimated at around $300, resulting in a multi-tiered pricing structure.
Several smartphone brands, including Xiaomi, vivo, and Oppo, plan to launch flagships in September.
Rumours indicate Xiaomi will be first, repeating last year’s trend when the Xiaomi 17 series debuted the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The upcoming Xiaomi 18 series features three distinct models.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will have the Elite Pro chip and dual 200 MP cameras with a 1/1.28″ LOFIC main sensor.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a larger, privacy-focused display, and it will have the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.
The Xiaomi 18 will launch in October, offering a 6.4-inch screen, the same Elite processor, and a 7,200mAh battery.
Faster processing speeds will blend seamlessly with highly optimised power savings to deliver a much smoother user experience.
