Samsung Electronics has announced that its upcoming Galaxy smartphone will include a built-in privacy feature designed to shield on-screen content without the need for an additional film.
The innovation aims to prevent shoulder surfing by allowing users to adjust display visibility based on personal privacy preferences.
Samsung will debut the feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, allowing users to customise settings for individual applications.
Samsung noted that the technology took over five years of research, engineering, and testing to develop, focusing on how people use their phones and what they consider private.
Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S26 series at a showcase event in February. The new privacy functionality will enhance user control over sensitive information while maintaining a seamless display experience, reflecting the company’s commitment to practical and intuitive security solutions.
Meanwhile, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Olympic Edition, aimed at athletes competing in the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympics starting February 6.
Approximately 3,800 athletes from 90 countries will receive the device, which features an Italian azure-inspired design and a custom gold metal frame symbolising excellence and sportsmanship.
The smartphone offers tools such as the Galaxy Athlete Card for easy profile exchange and an interpretation app to facilitate communication among participants.
Samsung will also host a Victory Selfie event, enabling medal winners to capture podium selfies. Professional photographers will use the Galaxy S25 Ultra to photograph around 490 athletes who have consented.
Samsung emphasised that both the privacy feature and the Olympic edition reflect the company’s commitment to combining advanced technology with practical usability, whether in everyday life or global sporting events.
