OnePlus Replaces Alert Slider With ‘Plus Key’ Ahead Of 13s India Launch

OnePlus has officially confirmed that its signature alert slider will no longer be part of its future smartphone designs—beginning with the upcoming OnePlus 13s set to launch in India.

In a bold design shift, the company released a teaser introducing the ‘Plus Key’, which aims to replace the traditional slider with a more versatile and AI-friendly button.

The new Plus Key allows users to perform multiple functions such as toggling sound profiles (ring, silent, vibrate), activating the torch, enabling Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, or launching virtual assistants like ChatGPT or Gemini.

This design evolution aligns with a broader industry trend.

Apple previously introduced the Action Button with its iPhone 15 Pro models, and it appears OnePlus is following suit, positioning the Plus Key as a more dynamic and AI-compatible alternative.

OnePlus 13s: Specifications And Design Highlights

The OnePlus 13s will be the third model in the company’s current flagship lineup, joining the already released OnePlus 13R.

OnePlus will power the device with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, signalling premium performance.

It will also feature a 6.32-inch display, appealing to users seeking a compact yet powerful phone.

The company has revealed colour variants in black and pink, with the teaser showcasing a flat design and square camera module, hinting at a dual-camera setup.

Though OnePlus has not revealed detailed specifications, it is expected to include a large battery with fast charging support.

Expected Price And Market Anticipation

Although OnePlus has yet to announce official pricing, industry expectations suggest the OnePlus 13s may retail around ₹50,000 in India.

The pricing strategy will play a key role in how the market receives this flagship contender, especially with its redesigned hardware approach.

Conclusion: A New Chapter In OnePlus Design

With the introduction of the Plus Key, OnePlus appears ready to shift towards a more AI-integrated, flexible user experience.

While some loyal fans may miss the iconic alert slider, the company believes this innovation will better serve the needs of the modern smartphone user.
