OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus 15R in India, positioning it as the successor to the OnePlus 13R.
The new model introduces upgrades across key areas, including the processor, battery, display and camera setup. It sits just below the flagship OnePlus 15, offering a balance between premium features and affordability.
The OnePlus 15R is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.
The processor claims a 38 per cent improvement in CPU performance and a 46 per cent boost in AI processing compared to its predecessor.
OnePlus has also added its custom CPU Scheduler to improve gaming efficiency.
In comparison, the OnePlus 15 runs on the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, designed for flagship-level performance. It handles demanding tasks and high-end games with greater consistency, making it better suited for power users.
The OnePlus 15R houses a slightly larger 7,400mAh battery, marginally ahead of the 7,300mAh unit in the OnePlus 15. However, charging speeds differ significantly.
The flagship supports 120W SuperVOOC fast charging, while the 15R is limited to 80W. Neither device includes a charger in the box.
The OnePlus 15R features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, slightly larger than the 6.76-inch screen on the OnePlus 15. Both smartphones support a 165Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth visuals for gaming and everyday use.
The OnePlus 15 benefits from deeper gaming optimisation with select titles supporting full 165Hz output.
The OnePlus 15 offers a triple rear camera setup with three 50MP sensors, including a periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zoom photography. It opts for a dual-camera system, featuring a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. While the primary camera performs well, the absence of a telephoto lens limits versatility.
The OnePlus 15R delivers meaningful upgrades with a larger battery, bigger display and a new Snapdragon chipset.
However, the OnePlus 15 retains its edge with superior performance, faster charging and a more versatile camera system. Buyers should weigh performance needs, camera preferences and pricing before making a choice.
