A report reveals that AI features now influence smartphone purchases, as consumers increasingly value smart performance and data privacy.
According to recent findings from Cybermedia Research (CMR), artificial intelligence plays a more prominent role in the smartphone sector, with more consumers incorporating AI capabilities into their purchasing decisions.
The research shows that 68 per cent of customers actively consider the presence of AI technology in mobile phones.
82 per cent emphasise that transparent data practices and user trust are equally important. Additionally, 61 per cent believe that AI in phones enhances performance.
Performance tops the list of consumer priorities at 78 per cent, followed by camera quality with AI-powered enhancements at 70 per cent, and 59 per cent focusing on AI features.
Surprisingly, AI now ranks higher than design, price, and battery life when making decisions.
When comparing smartphones in the same price range, 60 per cent express a need for a balance between AI capabilities and powerful hardware.
Only 25 per cent prefer more AI than anything else, while 15 per cent still prioritise hardware specifications.
The report also shows that AI has become an integral part of everyday smartphone use.
Nearly 57 per cent of users feel they understand and regularly utilise AI features, while others use them occasionally.
AI-powered photography continues to gain popularity, with 77 per cent of users taking advantage of features such as low-light enhancement, portrait optimisation, and scene detection. 71 per cent frequently engage with generative AI for tasks including translation, content writing, summarisation, and research.
According to CMR, consumer expectations significantly determine upcoming smartphone purchasing decisions.
