BSNL Joins Hands With India Post To Expand SIM & Recharge Services Nationwide

The state-owned telecom company BSNL and The Department of Posts signed a one-year MoU for BSNL sales and mobile recharge.

The MoU aims to bridge the digital divide in urban and rural areas, an official statement said.

BSNL will provide SIM stock and training, while DoP will onboard new customers for BSNL.

The government informed that this will facilitate transactions in a standardised and secure manner.

India Post’s 1.65 lakh post offices will serve as sales points for BSNL prepaid SIM cards and top-up services.

Assam is the proof of this as it showed success and operational readiness, setting the stage for a nationwide rollout.

The operation aims to bridge digital divides by making telecom services accessible to citizens in remote rural areas.

Manisha Bansal Badal, GM(Citizen Centric Services), said, combining India’s Post reach with BSNL expertise enhances affordable connectivity delivery.

She emphasised that every citizen deserves an accessible, secure mobile service with synergy symbolising progress towards digital empowerment nationwide.

Both parties will jointly ensure robust monitoring, monthly reconciliation, and strict adherence to cybersecurity and data privacy standards.

BSNL recently deployed a Make-a-India 4G Network, advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat and boosting domestic telecom capability.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia earlier credited government revival measures for reviving BSNL, once described as surviving only on ‘ventilator support.’

Citizens and policy makers alike welcomed the collaboration, interpreting it as a translation of vision into action for Digital India.
