Apple Elevates User Experience With iOS 26, watchOS 26, And iPadOS 26

Apple on Monday unveiled a suite of new software updates, iOS 26, watchOS 26, and iPadOS 26, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025.

These updates introduce a refreshed design language, smarter features powered by Apple Intelligence, and deeper personalisation across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

iOS 26: A more expressive and intelligent iPhone experience

Apple previewed iOS 26 as a significant leap forward for iPhone users.

The update brings a beautiful new design crafted with Liquid Glass, a translucent material that reflects and refracts its surroundings to create a more immersive visual experience.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, highlighted the update, stating, “iOS 26 shines with the gorgeous new design and meaningful improvements to the features users rely on every day, making iPhone even more helpful.”

iOS 26 enhances the Lock Screen and Home Screen with greater personalisation, spatial 3D wallpaper effects, and adaptive time placement. Apple also redesigned app icons and widgets with a stunning, clear look.

The Phone and Messages apps now help users reduce distractions, such as unwanted calls, and focus on meaningful connections.

CarPlay, Maps, Wallet, and Apple Music receive major updates, while a brand-new app, Apple Games, gives users a unified hub for all their gaming activity.

Safari introduces a more fluid browsing experience, where web pages extend from top to bottom, with essential actions like search and refresh always accessible.

In Apple Music, Podcasts, and News, the new floating tab bar adapts dynamically as users scroll through content.

watchOS 26: sleeker design and smarter fitness features

Apple also introduced watchOS 26, which features a Liquid Glass aesthetic that enhances the Smart Stack, Control Centre, Photos watch face, and in-app navigation.

The design retains the familiarity of watchOS while adding a fresh, vibrant feel.

A standout feature in watchOS 26 is Workout Buddy, an Apple Intelligence-powered tool that offers personalised, spoken motivation during workouts.

The Workout app now includes a refreshed interface and recommends music based on activity type and user preferences.

Smart Stack has been updated with more intuitive hints, and improvements in Messages make communication even easier from the wrist.

iPadOS 26: Apple’s biggest iPad update yet

Apple declared iPadOS 26 its most powerful iPad update to date. It introduces a striking new design alongside a major overhaul of the multitasking experience.

Federighi stated, “iPadOS 26 is our biggest iPadOS release ever, with powerful features that take the experience to the next level and transform what users can do on iPad.”

The update debuts an entirely new, intuitive windowing system that makes switching, organising, and controlling apps easier than ever.

The design enhancements aim to make the iPad experience even more expressive while preserving the platform’s simplicity and flexibility.
