Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan is poised to illuminate the opening ceremony of the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 23. Joining him in this star-studded event are acclaimed actors Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kartik Aaryan, and Sidharth Malhotra.
At 58, Shah Rukh continues to reign over Bollywood as one of its top actors. Last year, he mesmerized audiences with blockbuster hits like “Pathaan” and “Dunki,” which not only resonated in India but also made waves in the international market.
Shah Rukh’s association with cricket traces back to 2008 when he ventured into team ownership with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Since then, he has played a pivotal role in expanding the Knight Riders’ franchise, establishing teams in the West Indies, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the United States of America (USA).
Following the electrifying performances by Bollywood stars in Bengaluru, the opening match will see the Mumbai Indians (MI) clash with the Delhi Capitals (DC).
In a rematch of last year’s final, Meg Lanning’s DC will be seeking redemption against MI, led by Harmanpreet Kaur.
UP Warriorz, under the leadership of Alyssa Healy, reached the Eliminator stage last year but faced defeat against the Mumbai team.

Both Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Giants (GT) missed out on playoff qualification last season and are determined to make a comeback.
On Wednesday, all five captains—Healy, Beth Mooney, Harmanpreet, Smriti Mandhana, and Lanning—gathered in Bengaluru for the captains’ meeting.
In addition to Bengaluru, matches in the WPL 2024 will also be hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, including the Eliminator on March 15 and the Final on March 17.
