Virat Kohli’s knock of 93 guided the hosts to a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first ODI. This achievement marked his first return to the top of the ODI batting charts since July 2021 and the 11th time in his career that he has held the No 1 ranking.
Kohli has now spent a total of 825 days at No 1, the longest for any Indian batter.
Virat’s recent scores, 74*, 135, 102, 65*, and 93, highlight his outstanding form since the 50-over series in Australia. His batting consistency in the recent innings has propelled him to second place on the all-time men’s international run-scoring list.
This achievement brings him ever closer to Tendulkar’s legendary tally.
New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell climbed in the rankings after scoring 84 off 71 balls. He reached his career-best rating, just one point behind Kohli.
Among bowlers, Mohammed Siraj rose five spots to 15th, sharing the position with Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Kyle Jamieson’s four-wicket haul moved him up 27 places to joint 69th with Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh.
Australia’s Travis Head improved seven places to third in the Test rankings following a prolific Ashes series against England, amassing 629 runs at an average of 62.90, including three centuries.
Jacob Bethell also advanced 25 spots to 52nd, while Michael Neser moved up seven places to 47th after strong performances in Sydney. Beau Webster gained across all three departments, improving his batting to 58th, bowling to 80th, and all-rounder ranking to 26th.
Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga also rose three spots to second in the latest T20I bowler rankings.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and Captain Salman Agha also improved their positions with key performances.
Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza regained the top spot among all-rounders as Saim Ayub dropped one position in the latest rankings update.
