Tom Moody Appointed Global Director Of Cricket By Lucknow Super Giants Ahead Of IPL 2026

Ahead of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League, the Lucknow Super Giants have brought in former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody to serve as their Global Director of Cricket.

Announcing the appointment on the social media platform X, LSG posted, “Experience. Vision. Leadership. Welcome aboard the Super Giants Universe, Tom Moody!”

Moody’s arrival adds another experienced voice to the LSG setup, where he will link up with Justin Langer, his former Australia teammate who remains head coach, and Kane Williamson, the newly appointed strategic advisor and former New Zealand captain.

Aged 60, Moody boasts a rich coaching résumé in the IPL. His first spell with Sunrisers Hyderabad, running from 2013 to 2019, saw the team lift the trophy in 2016, their first and only title to date.

He later returned to the franchise in 2021 as Director of Cricket, stepping into the head coach role a year later following Trevor Bayliss’s departure, before parting ways in 2022 when Brian Lara took over.

Role Within The Lucknow Super Giants Setup

Within the Lucknow setup, Moody is expected to take on duties previously handled by Zaheer Khan.

The former India fast bowler had joined LSG as mentor on a two-year deal, but the association ended after just one season.

The team’s coaching unit has undergone further reshaping.

Bharat Arun, who once oversaw India’s bowling group, continues in the same capacity for LSG, while Carl Crowe has joined the staff as spin bowling coach, according to details shared by IANS.

After making the playoffs in both their debut seasons, 2022 and 2023, LSG have since struggled to replicate that form. Led by Rishabh Pant, they finished seventh in IPL 2025, matching their result from the previous year.

Those consecutive mid-table finishes have prompted a fresh rethink within the franchise. With Moody now in charge of the cricket operations, LSG will be looking to rediscover the spark that defined their early years in the tournament.
