Sportspersons are the most disciplined and excellent citizens of the country and society, says Dr. Rajeshwar Singh. The popular MLA from Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, inaugurated the ‘Sarojini Nagar Sports League’ today.
With the aim of keeping the youth of Sarojini Nagar fit and encouraging young players to perform excellently, MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh inaugurated the ‘Sarojini Nagar Sports League’ on Sunday. The league started with the Under-19 Girls Basketball Tournament at SKD Academy, Vrindavan Yojna. Girl students from 16 different schools of Sarojininagar participated in it.
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. He started the basketball bounce match. Four teams participated in Pool-A on the first day of this tournament. Four matches were played between all the teams. The first match was between Colonel SN Mishra OBE Memorial School and Bhonwal Convent School in which Bhonwal Convent School emerged victorious. Similarly, the second match was held between Manipal Public School and Delhi Public School, in which Manipal Public School was the winner. The third match was between Bhonwal Convent School and Delhi Public School, which was won by Delhi Public School. The final match was played between Colonel SN Mishra OBE Memorial School and Manipal Public School in which Manipal Public School emerged victorious. The players performed brilliantly in all the matches.
After the match, Sarojini Nagar MLA was also seen playing basketball. All the players were filled with enthusiasm to see the MLA playing basketball. As soon as he scored in the basket, the people present got excited and clapped. During this, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh told that tournaments of other sports like cricket, volleyball, football will be organized under this league. ‘My aspiration is that more and more children participate in this league and make this event a success,’said Dr Rajeshwar.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh said that all schools and sports events were closed due to the lockdown during the Kovid period, at that time most of the children spent time on mobile and TV. Sarojini Nagar league is being organized to encourage children towards physical outdoor sports.
He said that the players remain physically fit and mentally alert and disciplined, is also important. Due to the excellent quality of dedication, devotion and decisiveness, the sports persons are the best citizens of the country and society.
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh also discussed about the diseases faced by the youth. He told that the problem of obesity is increasing among the youth of the country. Diabetes is a problem in 20 percent of the youth. One out of every 10 children in the world, is suffering from obesity or diabetes. India needs to change these figures. The best and easiest medium for this is sports.
Encouraging the youth, Dr. Singh said that India is a young country. 35 percent of the population here is youth. India’s youth population is equal to that of the fifth largest country in the world. The more fit the youth is, the more he will cooperate in the progress of the country. The stronger the youth, the more the country will progress. Dr Rajeshwar pointed out that the youth of the country should bring laurels to the country at the international level through sports. ‘This is my aim. My efforts to encourage the youth to take up sports are continuing. It is my responsibility to provide all the valuable facilities to the children so that they play as much as possible.’ added the MLA.
High Court Judge Ataur Rahman Masoodi, Income Tax Commissioner Rameshwar Singh and SKD Singh were also present in the program. High Court Judge Ataur Rahman Masoodi praised the efforts of Dr. Rajeshwar Singh as well as the performance of the player. He said, ‘After seeing the performance of the children of Sarojini Nagar, I am sure that these children will bring laurels not only to the state but also to the region in the country. Sports is an important part of education through which you can go to a higher position. That’s why much attention is to be paid to sports as is given to education.’
Income Tax Commissioner Rameshwar Singh said that Dr. Rajeshwar Singh is a dedicated and honest personality. Due to his efforts, Sarojini Nagar is progressing continuously. Children should work hard and make the country proud. All the players played very well, congratulations to them and wish them all the best for the upcoming matches.
SKD Singh appreciated the performance of the daughters. He said that today daughters are bringing laurels to the country in every field. We have to promote our young generation and encourage more and more children towards sports.
Dr. Singh also encouraged the player who scored the most baskets by giving an award of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 to the other player. Along with encouraging all the players, a kit was provided which had a bag, t-shirt, cap, water shipper, hand towel and basket ball. Under this league, the pool-B match of the basketball tournament is also scheduled to be held on December 11.
