Gautam Ghamir's rude gesture towards the crowd
A huge commotion has been generated on social media as a result of Autam Gambhir losing his composure and giving the middle finger to fans at the Premadasa Stadium. On Monday, the Asia Cup 2023 commentary team was there for the group-stage match between India and Nepal. The former cricketer was a member of the panel. The supporters began screaming MS Dhoni and Virat
Kohli’s name as he exited the commentary booth, as seen in the viral footage that went viral on social media. But the former cricketer’s gesture while being led by a representative infuriated the crowd.
The cricketer-turned-politician was allegedly enraged by the cries of Dhoni and Kohli and displayed his middle finger as a result. However, Gambhir quickly issued a clarification in a post on the microblogging platform X (previously Twitter).
“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes,” wrote Gambhir.
Nothing is as it seems. Any Indian would retort to the same type of anti-national rhetoric as I did. I adore my country, and I love our athletes, he continued.
In a media interview, Gambhir also discussed the circumstances surrounding his decision to make the contentious gesture during a live cricket match involving Team India.
“People post whatever they want to post on social media, so what is displayed there has no basis in reality. The reality behind the viral video is that if you shout anti-Indian sentiments and bring up Kashmir, the individual in front of you will undoubtedly respond negatively and not smile before walking away. There were one or two Pakistanis speaking about Kashmir and against India. I responded naturally as a result. Nothing negative about my nation can be heard. So that’s how I responded,” Gambhir remarked.
