Steve Smith’s Amazing Statement About The “Biggest Series”: “Winning The WTC Was A Proud Moment, But Ashes Is Still The Pinnacle.”

Australia’s star batter Steve Smith was central to the side’s resounding win in the World Test Championship final against India. Smith had scored a brilliant century (121) in the first innings, helping Australia put a strong total of 469 in the first innings. The Aussies eventually defeated Rohit Sharma’s men by 209 runs to win the Test mace but ahead of the Ashes series, Smith has made an interesting comment about the WTC.

Smith thinks that the Ashes still rank as the highest point in the sport, despite the fact that they now had the title of “world champions” in the longest format after winning the Test championship. Smith discussed the Test championship and the five-match series against England in an interview with ABC News prior to the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

“Winning the Test title last week was fantastic for us. It took two years of arduous work to complete. Although it was a tremendously proud occasion for all the boys, the Ashes is the ultimate cricket competition between Australia and England. It will be amazing since we have worked hard for it our entire lives,” Smith said.

When questioned about the significance of the Ashes, Smith responded that while both sides have a long history of competing against one another, an entertaining match also depends on their present play.

“Just the background. The largest series is between Australia and England. It’s the one that aspires to achieve greatness and wishes your group well. It’s going to be an intriguing series given how England has played and how we have played. The great hitter stated, “The boys are eager to get started.

The victory against England in the WTC final last week has given Australia the advantage, but England has been playing a fierce brand of cricket known as the “Bazball” under Ben Stokes. Stokes will be leading England in his first Ashes series.
