Starc Takes No 1 Spot In ICC Test Rankings As Pant Makes Top-10 Surge

Mitchell Starc has claimed the top position in the latest ICC Test Bowling Rankings after delivering a sensational performance against Bangladesh in Mackay.

The Australian left-arm quick collected 10 wickets in the second Test, earning a two-place rise and moving ahead of Jasprit Bumrah and Matt Henry.

Starc has now reached the No 1 ranking for the first time in his Test career.

The 36-year-old has remained among the leading bowlers for much of his 15-year Test career and broke into the top three after his impressive displays during the Ashes late last year.

Jasprit Bumrah has slipped to second place after spending a significant period at the top of the Test bowling chart.

The Indian pacer first reached No 1 in February 2024 and maintained the position for much of the following two years.

Rishabh Pant recorded the biggest rise inside the top 10 of the Test batting rankings.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter jumped six places to joint seventh after producing a quickfire fifty during India’s first Test victory over Sri Lanka in Galle.

Harry Brook continues to lead the batting rankings, with Joe Root occupying second place.

Australia’s Steve Smith and Travis Head retain third and fourth positions respectively.

Australia captain Pat Cummins gained one position to move into fourth among Test bowlers after claiming six wickets against Bangladesh.

Spinner Nathan Lyon strengthened his ranking by moving two places to 10th.

Cameron Green climbed nine places to 21st among Test batters. Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva moved up two spots to joint 22nd.

England’s Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue enjoyed substantial improvements. They delivered impressive performances against Pakistan in the first Test at Headingley.

Robinson climbed 15 places to 11th, while Tongue rose 16 positions to 17th.

The pair collectively claimed 16 wickets during England’s dominant victory in Leeds.

India’s veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja retained the No 1 position in the Test all-rounder rankings.
