Former champions Sunrisers Hyderabad will likely face current table leaders Punjab Kings in match 49 of the Indian Premier League 2026 season on Wednesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Hyderabad head into the contest after a mixed run. Following a difficult start, the side bounced back strongly with five consecutive wins before their streak was halted by Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous outing. They currently sit third on the points table, having secured six victories from ten matches.
Punjab, last season’s runners-up, began the campaign in dominant fashion, winning six of their opening seven games, with one match abandoned due to rain. Their momentum has slowed slightly after successive defeats against the Rajasthan Royals and the Gujarat Titans. Despite this, they remain at the top of the standings with 13 points from nine matches.
The two sides have already met earlier in the season, where Punjab secured a comfortable win in Mullanpur.
